Shovin' Off

We have begun the journey! Roy Potter and the BuggMan we left Sheboygan Harbor and are about 3 quarters of the way to Port Washington!
We will lay up there for the evening as small craft advisory Wil be out with 6 foot seas! My have to port there through tomorrow!
Limits of the Buggin Out with the outboard on back is 10 miles an hour with about 3 foot waves! Any faster or bigger waves gives the outboard a beating!
Just a beautiful evening, dark skies and the lights on the shoreline! Cool crisp air
IT HAS ****BEGUN!****

Final Preparations

1976 32' Trojan. Motor mounted to swim deck, ladder welded, front berth empty ready for new cashmere carpet all around, new water pump, and now all I got left is set timing and tune up on the two gas guzling motors, install back enclosure, replace packing, remove old generator, install tool box were old generator was and put her all back together all in 2 days. But no pressure! Hahaha!

At the dock when pulling out the Buggin Out Captain Buggman saw a guy with this on his swim platform.  It was an ingenious creation. Mounting an outboard to the back to save on gas!

Constructing the outboard transom on the swim platform.

In order to get better gas mileage Capt. Buggman built a transom on the swim deck to hold an old Evinrude 25 horsepower outboard. The two inboards get about 1 mile per gallon per engine. The two-stroke Evinrude will get 5 miles per gallon! Captain Buggman fixed the outboard so that it would not turn.  To turn we just use the rudders.  This way is great for saving gas.  Control is more difficult but for better handling when going through the many locks, marinas and anchorages we just start up the big inboards.
